| NEW SAILOR Perhaps you’ve been reading sailing magazines, or watching
videos. Maybe you’ve been enchanted by sailboats skimming
over the water while you’re lying on the beach – land bound.
Maybe you’ve had a pleasant day sail, didn’t really
understand what was going on and want to learn more. Or
maybe you had an unpleasant experience where your skipper
expected you to know the difference between a sheet, a
halyard and running backs – and screamed and shouted when
you pulled on the wrong line. (Maybe you told him/her that
running backs were important in football, not on boats and
it was time to go home and watch the football game.)
Whatever the reason, you’ve come to the right place. I will
start where you need to start and design a programme that
fits your needs and your goals. That will be our first step:
to define your goals.
Why learn to sail on a boat this big? You can start on any
sailboat from a small dinghy to a huge ketch, yawl, schooner
or even a windjammer. The advantages of my boat are:
learning to handle and sail a boat this size is an easy
task with my coaching and mentoring- this will make you
feel very confident and ultra comfortable when handling
and sailing smaller boats;
a stable platform due to the following 3 factors:
with a 67’ waterline you will not pitch up and down
like a small boat
a deep draught (8’6”) with 9000 lbs of lead that far
under the water means you will not tip over like a
dinghy can
the light weight of the boat combined with the draft
and the long waterline means higher speeds and speed
increases stability and comfort

Learning to use sails this size in a controlled, safe, and
mentored setting will make sailing a 30-40 footer seem like
child’s play.

You too can learn to do this.
